About 500 people gathered on the Hill today to protest Alberta’s oilsands development and proposed pipeline to the Texas Gulf Coast. The whole place was fenced off and if you climbed over the fence you were instantly arrested. About a 180 demonstrators chose to hop the fence to make a stand.

A day of learning
Today the British Pm is in town. I caught the tail end of the ceremony that was held at the Tomb of the lost soldier. I was completely caught off guard by this and I only had my 50mm with me.
Later today I was still downtown and a rally started for "take back the night" Here is a link with more info on it. LINK
I didn't have my flash with me so I had to use a super high ISO and my 50mm.
It's amazing how things always happen on the days that you're not prepared for it. From now on I'll always be ready for things.

Army Run in the Capital
I was hired by the Ottawa Sun to shoot the Annual Army Run on sunday. The magnitude of people that came out to this event was pretty overwhelming. It's really inspiring to see this many people supporting our troops and to see the injured soldiers run the 5k and Half Marathon races. Some of the images are on the Ottawa Suns website and Others are in Todays paper.
Here is the best of.
Runners getting ready moments before
Injured soldiers starting
Joshua Karanja walking over to recicve his dog tags after just finishing the Half Marathon in first place
Mayor Jim Watson greeting participants
First Aid Worker waits to help any sick or injured participants

More Skateboarding and Published
Here are two more shots I took the other day of Bryce at legacy skatepark.
Yesterday I was hired by the Ottawa sun to shoot the Gee Gee's home opener game. I was pretty rattled at the turn out of people that came. I think it was around 3000 people. I didn't know there was such a huge fan base for University football in Ottawa

Skateboarding and Picketing
Today I got to follow around two skateboarders who let me take pictures of them as they went to various locations to do some sessions. I've never done skateboarding photography I'm really happy with how they turned out for my first time out. I'm going to be heading out with them again soon, so check back in a bit for those shots.

Before I met up with them I went and took some shots of the picketers outside Algonquin College. I was surprised at how it seemed like they really didn't want to be there and they weren't that passionate about what they are fighting for.

Yesterday was a pretty interesting day. Im really stoked with the pictures I got from it. I've been getting a lot more comfortable with approaching people on the streets to get their portraits. When I take portraits of people on the streets I try to hear about their lives so I can take portrait that resembles their personality. I don't want to just take the picture and runaway. It's crazy how open people are to getting their portrait taken. Everyone is so different, it's amazing hearing their stories.

Yesterday I was in a area of town I have never really walked around in before. I found the neighborhood to have an oppressive feeling to it. I was in this area because I was waiting to meet someone and had about 30 minutes to kill. I feel these are the best two shots that describe the feeling I had at the time while walking through it.
The other day I was chair shopping and I saw this shot. I really like the way it looks.
