Locals Only - Honest Wrench

I recently had to get some work done on my car and I didn’t want to go to one of those “sketchy” places.  I asked around for a bit and was recommended to a couple of places but the name that stuck out the most for me was the Honest Wrench, plus it was only 15 minutes from my house.
When I arrived I was greeted with a smile and treated as a friend, not as a customer.  Eric the owner/ mechanic is a super easy going guy, he’s honest and extremely fair in his prices. He has years of experience and doesn’t mind explaining to you what is wrong with your car and giving you options of how he can fix it. After meeting him I knew right away that I’ve come to the right place and that I wanted to feature him in my “Locals Only” series.
If you’re tired of dealing/ worrying about sketchy places you should definitely check this place out. It’s located at 5600 First Line Rd. in Manotick near Barrhaven and Highway 416(just off the Bankfield exit) You can either drop in or call ahead at 613-692-3008 or 613-889.8746.

OFSAA Track and Field 2012

I was recently hired to cover the OFSAA 2012 Track and Field event in Brockville. It was my first time ever covering something like this, so it was a lot to take in at first. Here are my best of from the two days.

Locals Only

This is the first post of many for a series I am starting called "Locals Only". The main idea is to feature local business owners and their stores in the Ottawa community. The reason why I am doing this is because I feel that we, in this generation, want things quicker and cheaper so we go to box stores and we forget about local stores that depend on us to stay open. I want to promote local store owners in hopes that people will decide to shop at their stores instead of box stores, which are owned by corporations not individuals.

Today I went to the Ottawa Antique Market, 1179 Bank St. This building is full of different booths which are run by different sellers of all kinds. You can find anything from vintage jewelry and prom dresses to classic comic books and pretty much anything else you would want in the vintage category. I highly recommend checking this place out if you are into collecting or wearing vintage items.
